About Whitening

We offer a highly specialised, tailored professional teeth whitening service at our dental practices.

We have treatments to suit all lifestyles. We have two types of teeth whitening options.

Home whitening: we provide bespoke home whitening trays and professional whitening syringe gels that you can use in the comfort of your own home. This process will take up to 2 hours or overnight everyday for arppoximately 3 weeks.

Bespoke home whitening trays and in-surgery whitening treatment: This method is highly recommended to optimise the benefits of teeth whitening due to combining two highly effective methods.

The above options will depend on how quickly you want the teeth whitening results. Your lifestyle will also be taken into consideration when deciding which treatment is best for you.

Our dentists will assess your teeth and smile to check that you’re suitable for this procedure.

  • A full dental check-up is required to ensure all patients are dentally fit and have good oral health. To ensure there are no cavities, gum disease or issues with your teeth and fillings to determine and maximise the teeth whitening procedure.
Some patients may experience some sensitivity from the whitening treatment.

  • Home tooth whitening studies show that it tends to last for up to 2 years. Top-ups are then required to maintain a bright, white smile and this is normally done using your customised teeth whitening trays and tooth-whitening gel. The amount you will require to top up will depend on your diet as those who have more tea/coffee/red wine or smoke will find the shade of the teeth will darken again sooner.

In-surgery tooth whitening on its own does not always produce lasting results so is not recommended on its own.

The best short term results are achieved by using a combination of In-surgery tooth whitening and home tooth whitening.

  • Teeth whitening is safe for your teeth and your health. You may experience teeth sensitivity as a side effect for a short period of time while whitening your teeth, however, this will disappear.

  • Your teeth are more susceptible to staining after whitening your teeth. It is highly recommended to avoid staining food and drink after the first three days.

  • After whitening your teeth, you should avoid foods that stain your teeth for three days. This includes sugary food, dark coloured liquids (such as coffee, red wine), food with natural or added colourants, and food that would typically stain a white shirt.

  • Yellow teeth can become whiter. Sometimes if you do not feel you have reached the target shade further whitening gels can be purchased to continue the whitening process at home.
