Correcting misaligned teeth and creating more even edges with Direct Composite Bonding
Porcelain Veneers are custom made thin porcelain shells that are bonded to your existing teeth to improve the appearance of your teeth. This procedure enables us to transform your smile with the use of minimal alterations to your nature teeth.
They can be used to improve the colour or shape of the teeth. They can even be used to hide spaces or completely restore a broken down/worn smile.
Most patients fear having to have their teeth drilled down into small stumps. This is a myth and when veneers are done properly the amount of tooth reduction is very minimal or sometimes none at all.
The amount of alteration required is dependant on several factors such as the starting shade, position and condition of the teeth. The bite may also impact the amount of alteration to create the best final result.
Not at all. As the preparation is generally very minimal, sometimes no anaesthetic is required at all. In cases where more alteration is required small volumes of local anaesthetic may be used, which will mean you won’t be able to feel anything.
The reason we have so much success is down to our planning. We will always have a wax or digital diagnostic setup made of the teeth which we term a trial smile. This version of your new smile will be made before we begin any preparation of the teeth so that you have the opportunity to see your new smile before we begin treatment.
For all of our cosmetic cases, we will always have the involvement of our ceramist to ensure that the colour is discussed in detail before beginning.
Whitening your teeth prior can allow for you to reach a shade that you are happy with before selecting the final shade of the porcelain for the veneers. This ensures the final result will be the best possible.
Alternatively, if we are performing a full smile makeover including the upper and lower teeth a different shade can be selected. This is where the brightest white shades can be achieved to give you a complete new look.
Veneers function like normal teeth and hence they need to be treated with care. You will still need to maintain an excellent cleaning regime at home as well as visiting our therapists to allow for professional cleaning.
Porcelain is a very long lasting material and is prone to very little discolouration over time. They can last upwards of 12 years and in full mouth rehabilitation more towards 25 years.
The colour of porcelain cannot be changed by whitening gels. The colour you choose of your porcelain veneers will be the final shade. We will of course advise and assist you in making this important decision.
We have three cosmetic dental clinics located in the UK; London, Manchester and Leeds.
