About Fixed Braces
Fixed braces come in several forms.
Traditionally metal brackets are placed on the front surface of the teeth however other options exist such as ceramic brackets which are tooth coloured and therefore less noticeable.
If you want maximum digression lingual braces are available which are when the brackets are placed on the inside over the teeth.

How long do fixed braces take?
Most orthodontic treatments take between 12-18 months.
Depending on the severity of the case it may take longer.

Can the brackets and wires be white?
Yes you can have ceramic brackets instead of metal.
The ceramic brackets and wires blend in better with the teeth in comparison to metal brackets.

What are lingual braces?
Lingual braces are fixed braces that are placed on the inside of the teeth so they cannot be seen from the front view.
They are the most discreet of all the fixed brace options.

Are fixed braces better than Invisalign?
Neither option is necessarily better than the other. Fixed braces may be more suited to certain cases where Invisalign may struggle and hence it would be during your consultation where one of our dentists can discuss the options and explain which one would work best for you.

Are fixed braces faster than Invisalign?
The time taken for the treatment is generally the same between both fixed braces and Invisalign.

Can I have composite bonding after braces?
Yes many patients opt to have composite bonding treatments after braces. This is always done once the final portion of the teeth has been achieved.
