About Hygiene Therapy

Hygiene therapy will provide advice and monitor your oral health and help you to establish a tailored cleaning regime using the right tools to ensure that these areas are being targeted most. This expert advice is vitally important to prevent issues and help avoid gum disease.
If you have never seen a therapist, you will not have had the dedicated time required to remove all of the hardened plaque and to have received the correct amount of education to prevent any problems in the future.

  • Not only is it important to ensure that you are maintaining a healthy and strong cleaning regime, our therapists will be able to detect any underlying issues or any potential threats. This means they can try to reduce any damage that may occur without any intervention.

  • It is important to floss between your teeth. When you brush your teeth, you sometimes cannot reach the gaps between our teeth, which means food and debris can get stuck. By flossing your teeth daily, you can remove the build up of plaque that sits between.

  • It varies depending on our patient’s needs. If you require more monitoring, then that patient will need to attend more appointments.

  • The therapist will perform a hygiene examination. This includes checking for a build-up of plaque, looking for any underlying issues and providing advice and guidance for how to maintain a strong cleaning routine.

Following this ultrasonic water scaling, hand scaling and interdental cleaning/polishing will be completed to maintain the gum health and appearance of the teeth.
